Jan. '23- Week 3- Visit Grandma Pat, Newsies, Webster Girls Disney Trip,

Jan. 15th- Sunday: I got up and got ready, then the kids ate and had showers and baths. I went to hear Dan speak in the Bridlewood ward. We attended our own ward. We had lunch and I had my conference call. We went to visit my Grandma Pat! We took dinner there and ate with her, then visited for a bit. My parents came too. We got home and got kids to bed and Dan and I calendared.

Jan. 16th- Monday: The kids had no school because of MLK Day. I went to work with Swa at Fueled Right cooking food and washing lots of dishes!  Brinley came to hang out with McKenna. Dan took the kids to Costco with Jasper and then to run a few errands. Some cousins came to play!  I got home around 5:30 and helped McKenna with her make-up for Newsies. McKenna and Ben had their last dress rehearsal!  We got the girls to bed. I worked on some Newsies ticketing stuff.

Jan. 17th- Tuesday: I exercised after the kids left. This time, McKenna went to work with Swa, packaging food for Fueled Right since she had an additional day off school. Alice and I ate and I Marco Poloed and showered. I worked on computer stuff. After lunch, I napped and worked on a grocery order. Alice watched shows and played in my room. I read with Ben once the kids got home. Anna had play practice. Dan picked her up. We ate and then Anna went to gymnastics. We all went to Ben’s basketball game and he scored a free throw!  We practiced our song for stake conference before getting the girls to bed. McKenna talked to me about a little friend drama before she went to bed. Dan and I researched our February trip to southern Utah.

Jan. 18th- Wednesday: I watched the news after everyone left. McKenna had late start and Alice and I went to the gym with Brynn. While getting her lunch ready, Alice climbed on the edge of the fridge and called it "sitting picking." went to preschool and I showered and worked on picking out outfits for my upcoming Disneyland trip. The kids had piano. I started to pack and vacuumed the closet and bathroom. I napped and worked on the blog some. The kids got home and I started dinner and wrote some emails. McKenna and Ben ate and then left for rehearsal. The rest of us ate and Bethany had hip hop. Dan got home and I left for YW. We did some speed interviewing and got to know each other better. Mostly, there was lots of talking, which is what the girls wanted!  I went to watch a preview night for Newsies and then drove carpool kids home. They ate snacks and went to bed and I packed more.

Jan. 19th- Thursday: I subbed in special ed for the day. Alice went to the Chadwick’s and the Jensen’s to play. The Jensens took her swimming at the rec center after school time, so she was gone from 10-6pm! While at school, I mostly worked with small groups of students, around 2-4 at a time. These were nice kids, but I could definitely tell they had learning disabilities. Some second and third graders still didn’t know how to spell the word “the.” It made we realize how blessed Dan and I are to have kids with very few challenges. Once I got home, I took a little nap then drove carpool. Ben and Anna stayed after school for crochet club and Jungle Book. Bethany had her primary activity, I made dinner, and moved pictures to the external hard drive. McKenna and Ben got ready for call time and had their first performance! Ben's YM group and the Inmans attended. I finished packing and we all ate. After kids were in bed, Dan took all the Webster girls to the airport for our Disneyland trip! We landed about 10:45 CA time. We went straight to our hotel and crashed. I roomed with Lara.

Jan. 20th- Friday: Poor Lara threw up first thing in the morning. We were all ready and walking to eat a McDonald’s breakfast by 7:40am. We ate on our walk to the park and were ready for the “rope drop.” We first headed to Rise of the Resistance and were in and out in one hour! It was my first time and that ride was amazing!! It was so well done and realistic! We worked our way through the park, ending with Fantasy Land.  Lara threw up one more time during the day around lunch time. We loved all the food we got and shopped a little for souvenirs. We also saw the Lion King show!  The Genie Passes were the only way we could have done everything we wanted to do in one day. We ended the night with the lights show and fireworks on Main Street! It was pretty cold and we all felt a little under dressed. I only had to take one dose of Ibuprofen during the day, so I call that a win! We averaged walking about 9-10 miles!! Back at home, Anna went to Sayge’s BD party and McKenna only had another Newsies performance. Unfortunately, she said the crowd was pretty unenthusiastic.

Jan. 21st- Saturday: We had a little slower start to the morning. We got McDonald’s breakfast again. The first ride we did in the California Adventure park was the Incredicoaster. We rode Guardians 3 times and it did not make me as motion sick as I remember!  The Marvel campus was awesome!  We saw quick Spider Man and Dr. Strange shows. There was also a Lunar New Year Mulan Parade! The Spider Man ride, Webslingers, was shut down most of the day, but we managed to ride it twice right at the end! Unfortunately, that ride made me pretty nauseous. We rode Soarin twice as well. Lara wasn’t feeling well the whole walk home and crashed hard into bed once we got back to the hotel. We averaged walking another 10 miles. Back at home, Ben had basketball practice and hung out at Caleb’s. McKenna and Ben had another Newsies performance which Faye Wade and Janet Thomas went to. McKenna also went to Beauty and the Beast at South Davis.

Jan. '23- Week 2- Ben's Ordination, Book Club, Jungle Book Starts, School Gas Leak, Ben's First Time at Temple, Dan at Mantua with Priests, Date and Games with Alexanders

Jan. 8th- Sunday: Dan had early meetings. I fed Bethany and Alice breakfast, the rest of us fasted. The kids took showers and baths. I did fancy hair on Anna and Bethany. Dan left after the Sacrament for another stake meeting. I shared my testimony about temples and how I’m grateful Ben will get to attend on Friday!  I’m also so grateful we live so close to a temple and I couldn’t imagine my life without that! I’m grateful we get to serve the dead and our ancestors. I'm grateful the temple brings me peace and moments to pause. During the second hour of church, we attended Ben’s Aaronic Priesthood ordination. I'm so grateful for our family who came! (Leaders: Tanner West and Kevin DeAngelo.) During YWs, the new class presidencies we’re set apart. The three girls had lunch when we got home. I had my conf. call and then made pot stickers for dinner. We watched our Line upon Line videos and got the girls in bed. Bethany accidentally took an iron pill instead of Melatonin, but thankfully spit most, if not all, of it out! Dan and I both did stuff on our computers.

Jan. 9th- Monday: I exercised after the kids left for school. I started laundry, ate, showered, and then Alice and I were late for Let’s Play Music. I worked on my "to do" list a little, then Alice and I had lunch. We gave Kaysen his BD gift when we picked him up for preschool. I napped and worked on the Legacy 'Intent to Enroll' stuff. I listened to the Christmas Chronicles for book club. It rained a lot! I drove carpool. I read with Ben. McKenna and Ben left for rehearsal. I made dinner. The girls folded their laundry. We ate and then I folded and I finished listening to the Chronicles. Dan played games with the three girls. I went to book club at Amy Pugsley’s and enjoyed talking about what made and makes Christmas so special for everyone.

Jan. 10th- Tuesday: Dan drove the kids then took Alice to work with him. I had an OB check up at St. Mark’s. I picked up Alice from Dan’s office after that. We got home and I practiced voice. We had lunch and then I napped and worked on posting a dress for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The kids got home and I read with Ben while he folded laundry. Anna had her first Jungle Book rehearsal! I attended the parent meeting and volunteered to help with choreography. Anna had gymnastics. We had dinner and the rain turned to snow! Dan took Ben to his first Jr. Jazz game! I got the girls to bed and started watching a movie with Kenna. I worked on picture collages a little. *I took screen shots of the Church News Instagram stories from a podcast that interviewed 3 of the Nelson children and the Instagram stories included some pictures of our family. :)

Jan. 11th- Wednesday: I subbed in Ms. Huggard’s Kindergarten class. They were more talkative than last time, so my voice was more tired. Dan took Alice to work and then preschool. I took the three middles to piano and then napped a little and caught up on Marco Polos. McKenna got home and then I had to pick up preschool and piano kids. I started dinner while the kids played and did computer stuff. McKenna and Ben ate early and went to Newsies. After dinner, Anna had her primary activity. I cleaned up and hosted the younger YW class at our house for a game night! Bethany had hip hop. Dan did showers and baths. We cleaned up in the kitchen afterwards. I looked over Jungle Book choreography stuff and started a grocery list. Dan worked on his talk for Sunday on forgiveness.

Jan. 12th- Thursday: I drove the kids to school, and then stayed for a meeting with Tandi about being the assistant choreographer for Jungle Book, along with Michelle Godfrey (Claire's mom). Alice came with me. When we got home, we played the game pounce and then she did Upstart and I worked on computer stuff. We went to my voice lesson and Jenni and I spent most of the time talking before I got messages from the school about a gas leak and I needed to pick the kids up asap! So we left right away and got home by 12:35. Alice and I ate lunch and then Sayge came over to play with Anna. Dan got home and we took a nap. McKenna got home from school. We talked a little bit. Then Dan and I both worked on the computers. I made a grocery order and then started tinfoil dinners. McKenna had piano. Dan helped Swa by driving Oliver and Ellie to their ninja class. We cleaned up dinner and the three middle kids did their first crunch labs subscription box. Dan left for an elders quorum pickleball activity, and I got the kids to bed and then measured Ben and looked at baby pictures with him since we didn't do it on his birthday.

Jan. 13th- Friday: I did light exercise before the kids got up. Dan took Bethany and Anna to school. Alice went to the Cundick’s. Dan and I went to the temple with Ben and Mckenna for Ben’s first baptism for the dead. We’re so thankful both sets of grandparents could come with us as well!  When we got back in the car, Ben immediately asked when we could go again. Dan took them to school and I showered while Alice did Upstart. She had lunch and then went to preschool and I went to ladies lunch and ran an errand. I Marco Poloed my roommates and then it was time to pick up Alice and Kaysen. Kaysen came back to our house after preschool to play for a while. Dan packed and got ready to go to Mantua with the priests’ quorum. I worked on mounting the Jesus robe picture to a board while the kids did homework and Bethany worked on her half-birthday spotlight poster for school. I napped a little. We had dinner once Kaysen left. I played games with Ben while McKenna gave Bethany a makeover. Anna colored and Alice played. The three girls got to bed around nine and McKenna and Ben stayed up a little more. I listened to the Church News podcast about Grandfather and made picture collages. Ben and I FaceTimed Dan for a couple minutes.

Jan. 14th- Saturday: I woke up around 8. McKenna and I exercised in the gym. We ate and McKenna and Ben got ready for rehearsal. They left and I took Anna to her make-up gymnastics class. I showered and Dan got home from Mantua. I had lunch with the three girls. I left to pick up groceries and the Newsies kids. We got home, put groceries away, and Dan and I left for the temple to do initiatories. We came home and fed the kids dinner. Megan Hunter came over to hang with McKenna. The three middle kids put together another one of their Crunch Lab kits. Dan and I left for dinner with the Alexanders at Nacho House. We tucked the kids in bed and then went to the Alexander's house for games!  The Johnsons, Chadwicks, and Nelsons all came. We played “Just One” and the card game Scum.

Jan. '23- Week 1- New Year's Snowy Sunday, Rose Bowl Day, Layton Visit, Puppies, Bethany Activity Days, Ben's 12th Birthday!

Jan. 1- Sunday: I woke up around 9am and started feeding the three girls. McKenna started her two weeks of no dairy to see if we could figure out her nausea issues. We did showers and baths and the snow kept coming all morning!  We made it a little late to church. I filled in for Sandy Inman in primary and taught singing time. I’m thankful we had Dan’s four-wheel-drive to get us home after church. We had lunch and then I had my call with my family. I made September picture collages. Anna helped me make a white chicken chili soup for dinner. We played the game Just One after dinner and then got everyone to bed. Alice came up and stayed up till 10 o’clock, not wanting to sleep. *We got lots of pictures from Dan and Ben and the Rose Bowl crew. Dan, Swa, Ben and Ollie, stopped by the LA Temple and walked around the grounds too.

Jan. 2- Monday: Bethany came in my room in the 5 o’clock hour and stayed in bed with me. I woke up at 8 and exercised and watched some of the Rose Bowl parade. I got some more pictures from Dan and Ben in CA. Anna and Bethany also did a little time on the treadmill. We ate breakfast and then I went outside to start shoveling the driveway. It quickly became apparent that I would not have the strength to do the whole thing by myself. It was such heavy, wet snow and my arms were burning. Greg Remington was nice enough to come over and use our snowblower and clear the rest of ours and the Johnson’s driveways. McKenna, Megan, Hunter, and Adrie Loveland got service hours by clearing other peoples’ driveways as well. Then they hung out. We had lunch, and then I showered. I took Anna to Zoe‘s house to play and go sledding. Then I watched the Rose Bowl and napped a little. Bethany and Alice went out to play in the snow as well. We picked up Anna and McKenna went to Adrie’s house. We had dinner and then cleaned up and played in the basement with Alice’s Number Blocks. I got them to bed and then worked on the blog and watched TV. Sadly, the Utes lost the Rose Bowl, and Dan and Ben and Sam‘s family had problems with the RV before leaving California.

Jan. 3- Tuesday: Me and the three girls got up at 8:30. We ate and Alice did Upstart. Anna and Beth did reading and piano. I chilled and watched TV and uploaded pics to Dropbox. McKenna woke up. We talked and then got dressed. We all ate lunch. The girls went out to play in the snow and McKenna and I shoveled. I went to pick up Dan, Ben, Brynn, Adam, Mia, and Grandma and Grandpa from the airport. They stopped for lunch at Apollo Burger. Anna went sledding with Ellie and Clara. We talked with Dan and Ben about our time at home and about their trip. Then we left for Layton to visit my parents and Mickelle. They gave Ben his birthday presents a little early. Also, Jonathan was driving home from visiting the Smith's in AL and he decided to drive past our old house in South Carolina! Crazy to see that house! We talked, had dinner, and played the game “Just One.” The kids got ready for school and we got them to bed. Dan and I calendared. I was funny to see all their RED laundry from their trip!

Jan. 4th- Wednesday: Kids went back to school! I exercised after they left. McKenna had late start. I showered and caught up on Marco Polos. Alice dressed as Elsa for preschool (she chose her pose). I snuggled the kids when they got home. I helped Ben with Newsies memorizing and Anna with her Jungle Book. Desi, McKayla, and Queensley came over to play. I made dinner for McKenna and Ben before they left for rehearsal. The rest of us ate. I took Bethany and Mia to hip hop. Dan did showers and baths for the A-team. I went to YWs which was a planning activity. Dan put together Bethany’s night stand.

Jan. 5th- Thursday: I got asked to sub as a Kindergarten instructor with Ms. Lee last minute. Thankfully, I was able to say yes! Dan took Alice to work with him. I led two reading groups and a math group. One kid threw up in the hall as he was going out to recess, and one kid had a bloody nose. Ms. Lee asked me to do very little in the afternoon, which was nice, but also kind of boring. I saw Ben and Anna during the day, which is always nice. Ben stayed after school for crochet club for the first time! We briefly stopped by the Moulton's to see their new puppies! Bethany had her first Primary Activity Days with Linda and Kelly Lemon as her leaders. They made collages out of magazine clippings, then Bethany had a makeup hip hop dance class in Centerville. Ben showed me his completed Old Testament Come Follow Me reading Chart! We ate dinner. Sandy Inman stopped by to get the Primary singing time stuff as she was just starting her new calling as choirister. We put the three girls to bed. Brynn and Brian stopped by. We watched some school videos with Ben. I worked on a grocery order. Dan worked on some clothing returns.

Jan. 6th- Friday: I exercised after the kids left for school. Dan worked from home. Alice and I ate, she did Upstart, then she got dressed, and her friend Adrianna came over. I showered. The girls ate lunch, then I drove them to preschool. Dan and I went on a lunch date to Sweeto Burrito. We napped. Then I worked on somethings on my phone. I snuggled the kids when they got home. Ben went on his birthday date with Dan’s parents. We had leftovers for dinner. Dan took McKenna and her friends to Station Park. Then he stopped by Jake’s (and tried out his new arcade) and WalMart. I cleaned up dinner. Ben got home and showed me all his stuff. His friends came over (Henry, Caleb, Luke, and Grant) as kind of a birthday hang out. We covered and protected the wall below the dart board. Anna went to the Alexander’s. I watched half of Mary Poppins with Bethany and Alice and tried to put them to bed in my bed so the boys could be loud in the basement. Dan got home and we put groceries away. We started watching the new Knives Out, then parents started coming to pick up boys at 10. We decorated and got ready for Ben’s birthday!

Jan. 7th- Saturday: Ben’s 12th BIRTHDAY!  It was nice to sleep in and start breakfast around 8:45. McKenna and Ben left for their Newsies rehearsal. We played with the three little girls a little, and then got dressed for the day and Dan gave himself a haircut. Anna went to Aspen‘s house to play. I picked up Ben from Backstage and took him to his first Junior Jazz basketball practice. We had lunch and then went ice-skating as a family at the Ice Ribbon for Ben’s birthday. All of the kids said it was easier than rollerskating at Classic Fun Center, and they had a great time! No one got hurt! Once we got home, I made Ben’s favorite soup for dinner. We ate, and then my parents came over for presents, ice cream cake, and games. We played Code Names, and Just One. The girls showed grandma and grandpa their newly arranged rooms and then we got everyone to bed a little late. *I'm so thankful for Ben in our family! He is such a nice brother and son! He's caring and smart and funny!
