Apr- Week 2- San Francisco!

Thursday morning, bright and early, all the adult Webster girls were lucky enough to go on a 4 day trip to San Francisco!  Laurie was unfortunately unable to come due to her son Andrew qualifying and competing in a regional gymnastics meet in CO the same weekend.  We certainly missed her.
Here we are on the plane and in the rental van.  Pidi also had to join us later due to her work schedule.
We first went straight to Little Italy and waited in line for almost two hours to eat at a place called Mama's.  While we waited, we split up a few times to go walk around a near by cathedral which was so beautiful! Baby Clara got to come on the trip too!  She did SO well for being carted ALL over the city.  Brynn had to improvise keeping Clara's birthmark on top on her head covered from the sun.
The food was amazing--especially after such a long wait!  I ordered the Monte Cristo and loved it!
Next, we walked to Lombard Street, the "crookedest" street in the world.
Top of the street looking down.
Bottom of the street looking up.
Then, we walked across town to the Coit Tower.  It's simply a lookout town built to beautify the city.
We had to pay and get a hand stamp to go up to the top.  Next, we walked back to our van and drove to and checked into our hotel.
Then we walked to Chinatown. Sarah Jane, who served her mission in Taiwan was especially excited for this!  We had a delicious family style dinner with rice and several entrees.
I Facetimed with my family back home, then we walked to Target, which was close to our hotel, to buy a few necessities.  We ate dessert at the hotel then hung out in our rooms for a bit and went to bed by 10.  We were all pretty tired by the end of the day...according to Brynn's FitBit, we walked over 15,000 steps (about 8 miles)!

Friday (day two), we were all out of the hotel by 9:30.  We drove to Pier 39, walked around for bit, then headed over to the boat to go out to Alcatraz.  Almost all of us said this was the highlight of our trip! We did an audio tour which was just like listening to a movie!  They used the voices from real prisoners and cool sound effects.
A cell, the kitchen, a key hanging that was stolen one time in an attempted escape.
The showers, the library, the visitation booths, and the doors to the administration area.
The hospital, a picture of the play yard, and a sign describing the escapes and escape attempts.
Lara and I in front of the solitary confinement cells.  A view from "the Rock" out to the Bay Bridge.  We all decided the tour really made us want to watch all the documentaries there are about Alcatraz.  Such a cool history.
After the tour, we went and ate lunch at Boundins!  I got a sour dough bread bowl with tomato soup and also tried the sour dough pizza!  So yum!  Then we walked to Ghirardelli Square.  We ordered 4 different kinds of treats and each one was pretty amazing!  This is also the face you get when you ask us to "squish our faces together" for a picture.  ;)
Look at these awesome sour dough bread creations!
After treats, we acted like a bunch of crazies and took tons of jumping pictures.  I mostly posed.  Jumping around at 6 months pregnant is probably not the best idea.
Trying to pose like our husbands would pose...and grandma was a great photographer.
Then we walked back to our car and along the way we saw these handsome gentlemen outside Madame Tussauds wax museum.  I also Facetimed with my family.
Next, we drove to this famous row of houses called the "Painted Ladies,"  most famous for where they filmed the opening credits of Full House!
Back at the hotel, we spent some time in the hot tub, played a fun dice game called "Tenzies," ordered a little room service, then hit the hay at 11:15.

Saturday (day 3), we were out of the hotel by 9:30 and Pidi was able to join us!  We walked around Pier 39 again, then hopped on a bus for a driving tour of the city.  We drove across the Golden Gate Bridge which was SO windy and cold.  We also drove around the Golden Gate Park, the "Hippie District," and then we split up a little while some of us went shopping and some of us went back to Chinatown to buy some souvenirs.
The house on the bottom left is what they based Hero's house off of in the movie Big Hero 6
Sea Lions at Pier 39!  Two pregnant bellies! :)
Back at Chinatown we were testing to see if we were "pure in heart."  If not, the mouth would have clamped shut.  ;)  We also took a picture of Robert Redford's doppelganger (in the green shirt). Sweet Clara enjoyed her stroller rides and we enjoyed the roomservice.
Oh, and at the end of the bus tour, we saw some naked people.  Not kidding.  Two guys and girl.  The girl had on underwear bottoms, but was topless, and both dudes had their things covered.  But other than that, totally naked.  The tour guide told us it's perfectly legal.  Not sure what point they were trying to prove because it certainly wasn't serving any sort of purpose since it was only in the 60s temperature wise.  Weirdos!  Anyway...after the bus tour, we headed to little Italy and ate lunch at a delicious Italian restaurant.  Then, we stopped by a famous ice cream shop called Bi-Rite (Cookies and cream and mint...yummm).
Back at the hotel, we got some h'orderves, then the group split up again.  Some went shopping.  I opted to rest my tired body (so much walking!) and Facetime my family.  Then Brynn and Dan's mom came to my hotel room (since baby Clara was now asleep) and we played Tenzies some more.  The shopping girls brought back some popcorn from the movie theater near by so we snacked some more once they got back.  We talked a little and were all asleep by 11:30.

Unfortunately, by about 2:30am, I woke up with a bad stomach ache and spent some time in the bathroom :( .  I headed back to bead around 4 and managed to sleep till 7.  However, when I got up to shower and get ready for church Sunday morning, I was still quite nauseous and had another episode.

Sunday (day four), I stayed at the hotel and tried to rest while everyone else rode a trolley car and toured the fortune cookie factory.  They came back to pick me up, everyone packed up, and we headed to church.  We attended a Sacrament meeting in a building right by the Oakland Temple.  It was such a beautiful day!  I had taken some Zofran (thanks to my pregnant sis-in-law), but I was still pretty nauseous and miserable.  I just wanted to sleep!
I ended up napping in the van while everyone went to lunch at a burger place.  I felt a little better once I woke up and was able to eat an apple and some dry cheerios.  Next, we drove to the Walt Disney Museum.  It was pretty interesting, but I wouldn't recommend people take kids there.   It went through the life of Walt Disney and all his creations.  TONS of plaques to read!  My favorite was seeing the model of Disneyland.
By this point, we had packed SO much into this trip, so much walking, so much eating, so much site seeing, that we were all pretty pooped!  For example we only drove past Crissy Field, which is a lovely "park" type place, which we would have enjoyed more had we gone to it earlier in our trip.  Then we headed to Boudins for dinner and then to the airport.  We arrived at our homes around midnight.
Even though I pretty much felt nauseous all of our last day there, it was such an amazing trip!  I'm so thankful for Dan holding down the fort and letting me enjoy my break from the daily grind.  I came back feeling mostly refreshed and ready to be a better mom!  I'm SOOO thankful for Dan's parents providing such a FUN trip!
