Aug. 2020- Week 4- Baseball, Ah Yen Wedding, Swimming, Back to School, Dan and Ben Shooting, Kayaking, Deer Hollow Park

Saturday Dan and I went to Ben's baseball game and since it was pretty hot, the girls stayed home.  His team won and he got two hits and 2 runs.  We picked up groceries and picked up Ben's new glasses at Standard Optical.  Anna played with Desi, Mabel, Billy and Brittana came here to play.  Ben got a haircut and we did baths before dinner.  That evening Dan and I went to the wedding of Ronel AhYen!  Dan performed the ceremony and it was such a fun dinner and dance party!  We enjoyed being there with the Lemons, as well.

Sunday we had in-person church and it was Harrison Bartschi's mission farewell!  He did so awesome giving his talk and shared wonderful stories of all the preparation for his mission.  He stayed so positive through it all even when things got hard.  My favorite thing he said was "It wasn't that I wasn't good enough to serve a mission, I wasn't prepared enough to serve a mission."  Such a good meeting!  After lunch, Brenn Parker came over to show McKenna some things about the flute and let McKenna use her beginner flute for this school year.  Then, we watched "The Fighting Preacher" and we loved it!  We had my parents and Mickelle over for dinner and Sadie was tied up in the laundry room and chewed through her leash.  Crazy dog! We did our family conference call out on the porch and also had a Webster family Zoom call.

Monday we were trying to get the kids back into a school routine, so we woke everyone up around 7:15 and we took them all for a walk.  After breakfast, McKenna had a student council meeting where they painted some Xs on the sidewalk for kids to stand on during carpool. We packed a lunch and then went swimming at the Winegar's.  It was great to sit and chat with Swa, Brynn, Abril, and Laurie.  After dinner we folded laundry and Dan worked on the sprinklers.

Tuesday we woke the kids up by 7am and walked all the way to Lewis Park and stayed to play for a bit.  After breakfast the kids did homework and I showered.  After lunch the kids played outside with orbeez in the Johnson's water table.  I took McKenna to run some errands to look for shoes.  That evening, we had our back to school dinner, pasta salad, and then got Hokulia.  We loaded back packs and Dan gave everyone a father's priesthood blessing.

Wednesday was the kids' first day of school!  We all went to drop the kids off at school and I got a little teary when McKenna got out of the car.  When the other three got out of the car, I mostly felt excited for them!  After the drop off, we took Alice with us out to breakfast at Sunshine Cafe.  Perks of being the baby!  We ran an errand and then I worked on Blurb while Alice watched a show. The three hours they were at school went by very fast!  They came home and had lunch and started homework.  Then the older three had piano and Bethany want to Mia's for a playdate.  Uncle Adam made them Orange Julius.  After dinner, Ben had a baseball game and I brought the girls home early for baths.

Thursday I went walking with Rachael after the kids left.  My new morning routine after the kids leave for school is: exercise, eat, shower, maybe a little cleaning, then it's time to pick up the kids!  That's pretty much all I have time for.  They come home, eat lunch, and start on homework.  Anna played with Desi and Dan and Ben went shooting with Jasper.  Cooper and Billy and Tanner came to play.  Bethany had music and I talked with Meghan for a bit.  After dinner we cleaned the basement and bought McKenna some new shoes online.  Dan and I watched some "Last Man."

Fridays are all at home virtual learning days for the kids.  It's so nice to have an extra day to sleep in.  After breakfast, Dan mowed the lawn and I weeded and pruned from 10-12 listening to my book most of the time.  Ben had a student council meeting and McKenna went to Lyla's to play.  After lunch, Billy, Cooper, and Rai were here for a bit.  That afternoon, the youth from the ward came over to the cul de sac to have some ice cream, and visit.  We had dinner and then another baseball game for Ben. McKenna likes to take selfies to pass the time. :) And Anna and Bethany made a "store" selling pine cones, rocks, sticks, and such.  When we got home, we put the other kids to bed and McKenna had school friends over for an outdoor movie night.  Lyla, Lia, Aliza, Hannah, Zoe, Sophia, Brinley, and Grace all came!  They watched "Holes."

Saturday I ran and we packed lunches and loaded borrowed kayaks from the Kumps, and headed to Lost Creek Reservoir.  The first hour was great on the water!  We had so much fun and I found it very relaxing.   Then we ate lunch and the winds started picking up.  We ended up needing to take the shade tent down  because it was so windy.  We also saw a group of Masters Swimmers which was pretty cool.  We packed up around 2 pm and stopped for a treat on the way home.  We had showers when we got home, then Dan and I went on a date to MOD Pizza.  After kids were in bed, we had a friends game night with the Chadwicks and Days at the Day's house.  We played Skyjo and Code Names.

Sunday we had at-home church and then recorded a video for Grandfather's 96th birthday celebration.  We had a chill afternoon and Alice tried on Bethany's dance costume. After dinner we had a dessert night with the Johnsons, Days, and Sarah Hoppes.  Everyone left by 8:30pm and we had our family conference and Zoom calls.

Monday was school picture day, so I curled all the girls' hair.  After my normal routine of exercise, eat, shower, pick up kids, lunch, and homework, we went to Deer Hollow Park with Brynn and some cousins.  I also got a picture of a hummingbird flying around our flag.  Ben had a baseball game that night and my parents and Mickelle came to watch as well.  After kids were in bed, Dan and I watched "Last Man."

Aug. 2020- Week 3- Swimming at Gunnerson's, Caught a Gopher, Mantua Friend Swim Day, McKenna's Voice Recital

Saturday Dan had to do some work for the contract proposal.  I had a bit of an upset stomach.  Later, Dan and I played baseball at the Holdstock's.  The girls played nice.  After lunch we went swimming at the Gunnerson's.  My parents came by to drop off some masks my mom had made for the kids for school.  So grateful for her talents!  We got Panda Express for dinner and then watched movies in the basement: the boys watched Avengers, and the girls watched the live action Beauty and the Beast.  Dan gave himself a haircut and we watched "Last Man."

Sunday I fed the three little girls, the rest of us fasted.  We had home Sacrament meeting.  After lunch, we finished Beauty and the Beast. I labeled all the kids' masks for school.  Dan caught a gopher in our new gopher trap!  Unfortunately, it didn't quite kill it, so Dan had to finish the job with a shovel.  After dinner, we played Suspend and Cover Your Assets outside and we FaceTimed grandparents in Hawaii.  We also finished taking care of the Johnson's plants that we watered while they were gone.

Monday I had a friend swim day at Mantua!  Lara was nice enough to let us come up since she knew most of the friends as well!  We had Kylee Behunin, Meghan Johnson, Rachael Alexander, Erica Day, Sarah Moulton, and Sara Stewart all come.  We all packed lunches and stayed till about 4pm.  That evening, McKenna had virtual back to school night and Ben had baseball practice.  Mickelle came to pick up a package she had mailed here and we hung out outside for a bit.  We had conference and Zoom calls with both sides of the family and watched "Last Man."

Tuesday I went walking with Dan and we saw two baby deer trying to play with a black cat.  After breakfast I had a foot doctor follow-up.  He said things are looking 30-40% better.  I got a toenail antifungal polish as well.  He said if icing and stretching still don't do enough in the next six weeks, I can come in for shock wave therapy to break up the scar tissue.  Ben went to play at Caleb's in SLC.  Alice and Bethany played at the Johnson's.  They all ate lunch together outside.  Then we had Tanner, Copper, Desi, Mabel, and Rai all over here to play.  They did some playdoh and Ben made Luigi and Toad from Mario.  Somehow I still managed to nap in the afternoon and Dan's work submitted their RFP.  After dinner, Brooklyn Ulmer babysat while Dan and I took McKenna to her voice recital.  She did SO awesome!  She sang "I Know Things Now" from Into the Woods.  We got a small treat at Arctic Circle.  Dan had Bishop stuff and I worked on Blurb.

Wednesday I ran and Dan went biking.  This was supposed to be our kids' first day of school, but it was delayed a week due to a non-teaching employee contracting Covid.  The kids did their Summer homework. After lunch Anna and McKenna went to Winegar's to play.  The kids had piano lessons then Lyla and Hannah Hilbig came over to play.  I worked on fixing our height board.  I got some new Birkenstock sandals to wear around the house in the Summer to help give my feet arches better support.  Dan and I went to Allman's to order new carpet.  After dinner was did baths and unfortunately I had an upset stomach the rest of the night.

Thursday I felt better, but Dan insisted on taking Bethany for her Kindergarten assessment.  Unfortunately it took WAY longer than expected and he had to reschedule going shooting with Jasper.  I worked on mending, the kids did homework, and McKenna went to Lia's.  Once Dan got back, he took Ben to his Murray office for the afternoon.  I had lunch with the three girls and then Tanner and Cooper came here.  I called Jonathan and after dinner Ben had baseball practice.  We played outside and I hosed down the driveway.  Sadly, it really hurt my elbow/arm quite a bit.  It had been hurting since playing pickleball on the 4th of July.  Anna had a late night watching a movie at Mabel's and Dan and I watched "Last Man."

Friday I went walking with Rachael.  McKenna went to Winegar's then I started something that was hard to stop. ;) I started blowing and sweeping the loose asphalt rocks in the cul de sac.  Well, Meghan joined me, then Nate Scott joined us, and we did the entire circle!  It took us about 1.5 hours and it was super hot!  After a nice shower and lunch, Dan and I hung our Bryce Canyon picture and leveled the movie posters.  I napped in the afternoon and so did the kids.  McKenna babysat and Dan and I went on a date to Sweeto Burrito.  We also hosted another outdoor movie that night.  We watched an Adam Sandler movie "Bedtime Stories" with the Stewarts, Barnes, Alexanders, Johnsons, and Mabel and her sister.  The air was pretty smokey and there had been cougar sightings in the neighborhood, so it was a little risky, but we still had fun.

Aug. 2020- Week 2- Swimming at Winegar's, Gma and Gpa Setting Apart, Blood Lake Hike X2,

Saturday I ran outside (instead of the treadmill) and after breakfast we did yard work then we headed to swimming at Winegar's. McKenna also had a swimming cast party for "Alice in Wonderland."  We used that evening to prepare to host all the Websters the next day.  That evening Dan and I went on a date getting food from two different fast food places, and then parking at a trail head on Legacy Parkway at 5th South.  We did more cleaning and prep before bed.

Sunday after breakfast I prepped fruit and got everyone ready for home Sacrament with ALL the Websters for Grandma and Grandpa's mission setting apart.  After church, we had lunch, played games, celebrated Hazel's BD, and played more games.  Since this was going to be our last time all together for a while, we didn't kick anyone out. Dave and Laurie and Winegar's left, but everyone else stayed and we ended up having leftovers for dinner.
Monday was a big cleaning day.  We put all the hidden toys back, vacuumed everything, I used the magic eraser on the stairs and the fireplace upstairs and they look lots better.  McKenna worked hard on cleaning her room as well.  The other kids did homework.  I also cleaned the entry windows, then vacuumed and dusted my bedroom.  McKenna went to Lyla's.  After lunch and folding laundry, I made banana bread and took some to the Kumps since Kelly was having some health issues.  That evening, we went through school supplies and I went through my emails.  Dan worked hard on carline emails for the school and was stressed about his work getting closer to submitting their new contract proposal.

Tuesday I went walking with Rachael.  After breakfast I ran errands with all 5 kids to Old Navy and Walmart.  They hadn't been out to a store in a long time and they were pretty over stimulated by all of it!  They had to point out and wanted me to look at so many things!  We organized more school supplies when we got home.  The kids played with playdoh, Ben played with Henry, and McKenna went to Hannah Hilbig's BD party at a park.  Tanner played here for a bit and after dinner I went to book club at the Hoppes' and discussed "The Color of Water."

Wednesday Dan worked in Murray.  Ben and I worked on organizing his shelves. Alex Boes came here to play with Anna.  After lunch, kids ran through sprinklers.  Bethany played at her preschool friend Hallie's house.  The three older kids had piano.  We had Dan's parents, Sam, Hailey, Adam, and Mia over for one last spaghetti dinner before their mission, they we hung out outside and said our final goodbyes.  I worked on editing pictured while Dan had Bishop stuff.

Thursday, I went walking with Dan then McKenna had voice lessons.  I watched all the back to school videos from teachers.  McKenna went to Brinley's to swim.  Anna played at Alexander's and I played with Alice outside for a bit.  She had fun with bubbles.  I called Jonathan for our weekly call.  I had a Let's Play Music parent meeting over Zoom.  After kids were in bed, Dan and I watched "Last Man."
Friday Ben and Anna watered the Johnson's plants.  I decided to run a 5K on Davis Blvd (not an official race).  The older three went hiking with cousins to Bloods Lake again.  I didn't want to repeat a hike in the same month, and they were nice enough to take them, so I stayed home and tried to be productive.  Poor Oliver swung out on the rope and cut his knee on a rock on the swing back in.  He had to get stitches after. :( That night, Dan and I went on a date to Chile Amore and picked up movie popcorn and groceries.  Later, we had another outdoor movie with the Yeates, Moulton, and Whitchurch families.
