July- Week 4 (Part 1)- Van Hit and Run, Granddaughter Sleepover, Pioneer Day

Friday we went to the final Literacy Program at the park, which was Pioneer themed.
That evening McKenna went to the granddaughter sleepover.  We tried taking Anna, but she was exhausted and I had forgotten to give her an afternoon nap to help prepare her for the fun night.  Oops!  While McKenna was gone, we took the other three kids to Chick Fil A.  Unfortunately while we were there, our van got hit in the parking lot by a guy in a truck who then LEFT!  Hit and run!  Thank heavens a saintly bystander saw the whole thing and took a picture of the guy's license plate.  The police were able to track him down and thankfully his insurance will pay for the damages.
After dinner, we were trying to avoid the Bountiful city handcart days parade traffic, so we stayed in Centerville and played at a park.  Ben can do the monkey bars now!
Here are the highlights from the Granddaughter sleepover!
They got darling bonnets, also made covered wagons, and went to "school" with their slates.
They watched the Bountiful Handcart Days fireworks
We dropped Anna off at Grandma's bright and early the next morning so she could participate in all the day activities.  Love their "serious" faces.
Breakfast
 Paper dolls

 tug-o-war
 Pounding leather
Cute Anna and Lola at the stick pull

 Yarn dolls

While Anna and McKenna were gone, we packed a little breakfast and took Ben and Bethany hiking on the Wild Rose trail in NSL.
Bethany fell asleep right at the end.
We shopped for groceries then the girls got home from grandma's at 12.  We ALL took naps!  Dan helped me finish up organizing the suitcases and donations for the stake YW service project.  We dropped them off that night to be loaded in the stake girls camp trailer for the upcoming week of girls camp!
That night we went to our friend's cul de sac for treats and fireworks to celebrate Pioneer Day!  I really love our neighbors!
Sunday was Pioneer day.  I had a strong urge during Sacrament Meeting to "clean up" the way our kids behave during Sacrament meeting.  Less snacks, less toys, shoes stay one, less laying down.  I know we can do better...and we have!  That evening we had Webster family dinner.  We celebrated the July BDs!

We were also lucky enough to spend some time with Grandfather.  He and Dan's dad both shared stories of our Pioneer ancestors!
That night I worked on camp stuff and didn't get to bed till 1am!
