August- Week 1- The Kids

Dan and I went to Chile for 8 days at the beginning of August!!  It was amazing!  My dad works for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints down there on a newly operating olive farm (Did you know the LDS church owns a number of for-profit companies, worldwide? Pretty cool!) .  He's the area controller for all the church farms in Chile, Brasil, and Argentina.  My parents have lived down there for 3 years and they wanted all of their children to come down and visit before they had to move.  The timing worked out great in that no one was pregnant or had a nursing baby.  However, I did have to wean Anna for this trip and was a little sad to have a "deadline."  But I probably would have only nursed her a little longer anyway.

We had a girl named Shelby babysit for us.  She just finished her sophomore year at BYU and her older sister is in our ward.  Shelby had a summer day camp last year which McKenna attended and got to know her well.  Then, around March, Shelby emailed me and said she was just looking to babysit this Summer, like if we were planning to go on a trip without kids or something like that.  Hallelujah!  Shelby was certainly an answer to prayers!  It was so nice to have one person in our house the whole time and not have to split the kids up, or bounce them from house to house, or feel like they were a burden on someone.  And boy was Shelby AWESOME!!  The kids loved her and she did so many fun things with them.  Here are a few pictures from their week together.

Shelby's sister in our ward has children all the same ages as ours.
The kids wanted to have a little snack stand and they called it, "Free Snacks for Sale."  Cute name, right? She said they ended up making $10.

They used it to go get some ice cream!

McKenna lost her 2nd tooth while we were gone.  This is the second tooth she has lost and this is the second time we've missed it!  Good thing the tooth fairy still knew what to do.  ;)

She took them to a splash pad

She did a great job wearing them out!
They also had a fun day at the Zoo!

We're forever grateful to Shelby for making trip to Chile stress free!  I really didn't worry about the kids at all!
