June- Week 3- Ellie, Kiddie Pool, Chalk Art, Father's Day.

Monday we went swimming at the Winegar's pool with lots of cousins.  Afterwards McKenna started making a bandana blanket at her sewing class with Grandma.  That evening we had the Nelson family BD party for June birthdays (Dan and Anna).  It was a swimming party but the weather didn't cooperate very well.
(Funny story: Ben fell asleep on the way to the family party.  He woke up when we got to Dan's work to pick him up.  There are times when Ben wakes up from a car nap quite beastly!  This particular time he was screaming for a good 15 mins insisting we go up to Dan's office (but we couldn't because he was in a meeting).  So Anna found a way to cover her ears while we listened to Ben's tantrum.)
 Singing to the June birthdays!
Tuesday, we took cousins to our weekly Summer movie, Dolphin Tale 2.
That afternoon, we started babysitting cousin Ellie for 24 hours while Sarah Jane and Jake went to a quick overnighter with some friends.  She's such a doll and such an easy baby!
Wednesday my sister came over to hangout and as I was moving her car out of our driveway, it stalled and quit running.  We tried many things with the help of my neighbor (jumping it, adding more gas, starter fluid...) but nothing would help.  So we ended up calling a tow truck to take it to a shop and later found out the fuel pump was broken.  Thankfully my sister didn't have to get to work.

Once Sarah Jane came to pick up Ellie, she was able to babysit my kids for a couple hours while my sister and I were able to go visit my Grandpa Thompson who was recently put on hospice.  His physical health was been declining pretty rapidly for the past 6 months.  It was a great visit!  He showed us his new bed, I helped give him cinnamon candies, and we talked about past memories!
Thanks to my sister spending the night to wait for her car to be fixed, that evening after the kids were in bed, Dan and I were able to sneak away for a little hour or so date to get some treats at Swig and just talk.

Thursday, we ran some errands to shop for Father's day gifts.  This was Anna pretending to sleep when I was trying to keep her awake on the drive home.
That evening, the kids played in the kiddie pool to beat the heat!
Anna loved it even though to water was quite cold.  You can tell whenever she splashed that the cold kind of took her breath away.
Aaaand, we didn't put a swim diaper on her so she ended up looking like she had an "ant" bottom.
Friday, we packed a lunch and headed to the splash pad with the Stewart cousins.  The kids also had a couple different play dates with neighbors in the afternoon.  That evening, Dan was working late at his work's Chalk Art festival, so we went to the Stewart's house and had an outdoor movie night and watched Monster's University.
Saturday after breakfast, we headed down to the Gateway for the Utah Foster Care Chalk Art Festival.  Dan's brother Sam also had a Hokulia shack set up!
Here are some highlights/favorites.
Sunday, we celebrated DAN for Father's day!!  We gave him some presents after lunch (new tie, socks, favorite candy, and some homemade cards).  He was nice enough to help grill his Father's day dinner, then we hosted his (new this year) annual father's interviews with each of our kids.  After the kids were in bed, we played Rummikub.  I'm so grateful for what a wonderful father he is to my children.  I love how carefully he always teaches our children about the gospel and the importance of hard work and responsibility.  He also teaches them the FUN in life!  Love you honey!

That chalk art is fantastic! I wish we could go see it in real life every year you post these pics. I love these Anna pictures. Covering her ears (hilarious! and such a cute face), and then pretending to sleep! oh my. and the ant bum, heehee. Just love it.
