June- Week 1- Kindergarten Grad., Big Girl Bed, Last Day of School, Grandma's BD

Monday was McKenna's Kindergarten Graduation!!
She even won an award
They gave out 4 certificates representing the 4 keys of excellence.  She won the "Commitment" award.
Their final song was about leaving Kindergarten and heading to 1st Grade.  So cute!

With her teacher, Mrs. Thomas!

McKenna's speaking part: "George Washington was our first president, on the quarter and dollar too.  He fought the British and helped us form, a new nation for me and you."

Two of my siblings and Gandma Sibber came to support!

In the evening we had a family home evening about being obedient and it was McKenna's idea to play "Simon Says."  I loved how Anna participated too!  After the kids went to bed, Dan and I worked on getting Anna's new room ready for her to "move in" the next day.  We moved a dresser from Dan's parent's house and built a little bookshelf and put her new bedding on the big girl bed.
Tuesday, Anna woke up with a mysterious fever as well (like McKenna's a few days before).  However, even with a fever, I decided to make the transition to her new room/bed anyway.  This was how her first nap went.  Pretty much like I expected.  :)
That afternoon, Ben also came down with the fever.  None of them had any other symptoms, and the fever thankfully only lasted about a day and could easily be managed with meds.  In the evening, we did some yard work.
Wednesday was McKenna's last day of school!  Check out how much she's grown!
I got an idea from one of Dan's cousins to decorate the van like a party to help us celebrate!  She loved it!  However, I had to run some errands after picking her up and at the store parking lot, she said she was a little embarrassed by it. ;)
Later, McKenna got to run through the sprinklers with one of her school friends and also had other neighbor friends over to play in the afternoon.

Dan had a big day that day also.  He had a TV interview with ABC 4!  They were promoting the Utah Foster Care Chalk Art Festival that would take place in a few weeks.
We loved seeing Anna's funny sleeping positions in her new bed throughout the week.
Our first official day of Summer vacation looked like this: So nice to sleep in a bit and snuggle the kids, worked on organizing kids school papers, McKenna got to go hear her cousin Whitney's poem/speech in an assembly and then have Hokulia afterwards, met Dan at a park, had dinner, played, then went to Ugurt for another celebratory treat, and we finished the night at a neighbor's house for an outdoor movie (Lego Star Wars).   Too much fun already!  ;)
Friday I attended a funeral for a teacher friend of mine who passed away quite quickly from cancer.   She was such a sweet lady!  Many of her students, past and present, sang a few songs she had always taught in her classroom.  Such a tear jerker for sure!  It was a sad reason to gather, but it was nice to see many of my past friends/coworkers.

Friday evening, we headed up to Mantua to surprise Dan's mom for her 60th Birthday!  Almost all of us gathered and had dinner at Maddox first.

Then we surprised her at the house by decorating her room with balloons and 60 things we love about her hung all over the walls.
The grown-ups all enjoyed talking while the kids watched Big Hero 6.
Saturday morning, Brynn and Sarah Jane's husbands were nice enough to stay home and babysit ALL the kids while all the grown-ups could attend a temple session in Brigham City for the mother's BD.

Then we had a yummy yogurt parfait and oatmeal bar for breakfast.
Then we went swimming!!

We had pizza and sides for lunch.
Sam even brought up an ice shaver so we could have Hokulia!
Then everyone kind of chilled, took naps, went on walks or ranger rides, then we cleaned up/packed up, and headed home by 6:30.  We completed the night with dinner, baths, and bed time.

Sunday it was my turn to teach and I sang a duet of Amazing Grace in Relief Society as part of a lesson on grace.  In the evening, McKenna put on a "concert" for us and gave out awards.

What a cute kindergarten program. I'm not big on "graduations" for that group, but I love that they showcased so much of what they had learned!
