July- Week 3- The First Few Days Home from the Hospital

Saturday morning, we took Bethany for a follow-up bilirubin check and her numbers had thankfully come down...no need for lights!  Also, her weight was 5lbs 14oz.  A normal amount of weight loss, and so tiny!   My parents came and watched the other three kids and brought pancakes for breakfast.  When we got back, they had to leave for a baptism.

I fed and rested off and on all day.  Dan did some yard work while the kids played outside.  We had lunch, then Dan took all three older kids swimming at our neighbor's house.  When they got home we did baths/showers and watched Star Wars.  Our friends/neighbors the Olsons brought dinner that night.  Her 14 year old son had slaved over the stove making crepes!  They brought lots of yummy fillings to go with them. A very unique dinner and so good!
Because Anna had skipped her nap due to swimming, she went to bed very early that night. More pictures of snuggles from the day.

After dinner, we headed outside to get some fresh air and give Bethany lots of bright (but indirect) light.  My mom and dad came back and we had a few neighbors stop by to take a peak at and hold miss Bethany.

Sunday
We have the kids pick out their church outfits the night before to help save time in the morning.  However, Ben completely changed his choice when we saw what Dan was wearing because he wanted to match.

This was taken right after Dan took Ben to administer a home Sacrament to someone he home teaches.  Ben was so reverent and sweet.  It was a nice moment for them.  So cute!
I enjoyed some quite time/resting while everyone else was at church.
My sister came back from her trip to Alabama for my niece's baptism, and she met Bethany for the first time.

Everyone came home from church and we had lunch and I got to shower!  ;)
Then we had a very special visitor!  Dan's Grandfather took the time out of his extremely busy schedule to come meet his 88th great grandchild!  Bethany was born the same day he was set apart as the new President of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

Grandfather was so sweet to take Ben on his lap and explain to him how lucky he was to now have 3(!) sisters.  He said what a blessing all those girls will be in his life. :)
Sweet Anna was napping during Grandfather's visit.  But she sure needed it.
Dan's parents brought an amazing dinner that night with roast, rolls, fruit, broccoli, mashed potatoes, gravy, and brownies!  After we feasted, we headed outside for some more fresh air and Dan's oldest brother and family came by to meet Bethany.  I think they liked her. ;)

Monday
Dan was able to stay home form work for the entire next week.  My mom and dad were also here off and on to help entertain the older kids.  So thankful for all the amazing help!
Morning snuggles.
Ben sharing his Legos with Bethany.
Anna has been totally in love with this new baby!  Such a sweet big sister.  And totally HUGE compared to our tiny new baby.  She is mostly gentle and sweet whenever she holds Bethany, but also curious.  Anna will hold one of Bethany's fingers or toes and kind of pinch and twist it like it isn't real or something.  She's just checking things out.  ;)
Dan took the older two grocery shopping, I did some laundry, Anna "watched" Sleeping Beauty, then we all had lunch together.

Dan then took the older two up to Grandma's house for McKenna's sewing class while Ben played with other cousins there.  I stayed home to nap with the little two.  The project for the day was a pillow case.
Nice Ben. ;)
Such cute fabric!
That evening, my dad's company had a big BBQ in which they can invite their families.  Dan went with all the older kids (even though Anna was coming down with a cough and runny nose-- joy!).  The snow cones are always a favorite!

When they got home, they had some fun with sidewalk chalk outside.  Matching outfits and all!

Don't mind the socks and sandals.  ;)
Bethany had her first sponge bath at home that evening.  She didn't love it, but she didn't scream the hole time either.  :)
