Nov. 2021- Week 4- More Alabama Trip, Thanksgiving, Decorate for Christmas, McKenna Ears Pierced!

Nov. 22nd- Monday: We all got up and ready to go to the Montgomery Zoo! We arrived around 10am. It was a little cloudy and chilly at first, but thankfully, it warmed up. We started by going in the bird enclosure then we saw the African animal, monkeys and had lunch there at zoo. Next, we saw the North American animals and played at the park. We left at 4 and stopped by two Civil Rights monuments. We drove around Auburn University and stopped at Momma Goldberg’s to have sandwiches for dinner. Back at the house, after kids were in bed, we watched the movie "Red Notice."

Nov. 23rd- Tuesday: We got ready for the day and left for Pa’s house around 9am. We made several stops along the way at grocery stores to buy food and ammo. We finally arrived at 1pm and had lunch. Then we had fun riding the carts and buggies, we went for a walk with everyone wearing bright orange. Then we shot guns and had breakfast for dinner. We cleaned up and drove home by 9:45pm.

Nov. 24th- Wednesday: We got ready for the day, did some laundry, and then went to breakfast at Chick fil A to visit Kari at work! Afterwards we visited Emily’s classroom and school. We returned home and cooked our Thanksgiving dinner. The kids played outside and did crafts. Justin’s parents stopped by on their way to Pa's. We ate around 3 then cleaned up while the kids watched Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. We napped, the kids played Skyjo, and we had dessert. Then we left to see Christmas Lights at Callaway Gardens in Georgia. They were very impressive and beautiful! We were all pretty cold, but it was still fun! We got hot chocolate after and were home by 10:30. After kids were in bed, the grown ups had dessert and watched TV.

Nov. 25th- Thursday: We slept in a little. After we ate, we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, then the Dog Show. The kids played the Switch upstairs. We did showers and baths for the kids. After lunch (leftovers), the kids played outside. McKenna and Kaitlyn decided to do the Polar Bear Plunge in the Smith's pool. Kelsey also joined. The kids did a word search, then we went for a walk around the neighborhood. We Skyped with Gma and Gpa Thompson and Websters. We play outside more. We had more leftovers for dinner. Then we played games (Double Ditto and Uno Flip). After the kids went to bed, we packed a little, had popcorn, and talked. There were lots of YouTube and Tik Tok videos watched. I had a hard time sleeping because of busy brain and the vacuum hitting the door in the middle of the night.

Nov. 26th- Friday: We found out our flight home was delayed 2 hours. We made it to the tiny Columbus, GA airport by 9:45am. Our flight left at 10:35am. I sat by the B-team. Unfortunately, all of our seats on the next flight from Dallas to SLC were spread out all over the plane. I sat with Bethany. She watched Frozen. Ben, Anna, and McKenna were all by themselves. Dan was with Alice. We landed in SLC at 2:45 and Jake picked us up. We got home, unpacked, ate snacks, and did laundry. I worked on a grocery order. We watched some of the Utah football game. The kids played. McKenna did homework. We had grilled cheese for dinner and put away Thanksgiving decorations. After the kids were in bed, we swapped Christmas trees with Dan’s parents.

Nov. 27th- Saturday: After breakfast, we started setting up Christmas decorations! Dan and McKenna ran errands to Walmart, and to my parent's house in Layton. We met at Backstage's headshot studio. Cousins Hailey and Abby came over to play. I touched up paint on baseboards around the house. McKenna worked on HW. I took a small nap. Brinley came over to help McKenna babysit. Dan and I went to dinner at Santorini’s with the Alexanders, then did sealings at the temple with Alexanders and Moultons. We got a treat afterwards at Blacksmith. Then we went shopping at At Home for a few Christmas decorations.

Nov. 28th- Sunday: I taught “Praise to the Man” and “When Joseph Went to Bethlehem” in Primary. The kids decorated the Christmas tree. After lunch, Dan and I napped on the couch from a couple hours. We must have needed to after our Alabama trip. The kids played and watched shows.  We had a Nelson family Zoom with Grandfather for Thanksgiving. We had Webster family dinner at Winegar’s. It was great to be with and talk with everyone. After kids were in bed, Dan and I did some planning and I worked on the Nelson News.

Nov. 29th- Monday: After kids left for school, I exercised (ran 1 mile). Alice and I had a normal morning. David Gates brought over our new computer. During my shower I listened to “Don’t Miss This.” I got dinner going in the crock pot. I went to North Campus to help Brecken Arnorld decorate for the Winter Concert. Alice ate lunch there, then Dan came to get her and took her to preschool. I went back home and ate a late lunch, then drove carpool. Ben played Quidditch at Harry Potter Club. I had to re-thread a beaded garland that broke. The kids worked on homework. McKenna ate and then had rehearsal. It was a normal evening of phone and computer time after kids were in bed.

Nov. 30th- Tuesday: After kids left for school, I ate and changed and rode with Swa to the gym. After I got home, I found out our neighbors Meghan and Cody had Covid. I had a normal afternoon. Ben had rehearsal. I helped Bethany with piano then took her to dance. Then I took McKenna to get her ears pierced as a late birthday present!!! She did great! Due to Covid restrictions, Mickelle had to wait outside and watch through the window. Such a supportive Aunt to come anyway! Afterwards, Mickelle came with us to get ice cream, then McKenna had YWs. After kids were in bed, I worked on Primary singing time, then on the Christmas countdown doors.
