Jan. ‘24- Week 1- Cleaned up Christmas, Jazz Game, Youth Baptisms, Ellie and Hazel at LPA, Choir School!, Ben's 13th Birthday!, Music and the Spoken Word,

st- Monday: We all slept in and needed it. We didn’t start breakfast until almost 10:30. We finished our names of Christ poster and talked about goal setting for the new year with reading the Book of Mormon and memorizing The Living Christ. We put Christmas decorations away, which took till about 2pm. Dan went through the cupboards above the computer and cleaned some things out. We ate lunch. McKenna cleaned and organized. Desi came over to hang out. We watched the Rose Bowl. Ben vacuumed. Dan and I rehung things on the walls that had fallen. I put the kitchen selves back together by the small table. I made a soup for our dinner and for the Ulmers. Dan and I visited with them for a bit and got some more info about the last few days of Kim's life. We ate back at home. I cleaned up the kitchen. Dan organized his office some and played war with Alice. We got the girls to bed. Dan and Ben watched Thor. McKenna had Adrie and Bridget over. I drove them to “rat attack” some friends (Whitney, Lucy, and Maddie).

nd- Tuesday: We slept in again. Dan returned to work. I exercised then ate with the kids. We went through school papers. I showered. We had lunch and then we went to see the new Wonka movie. I really liked it! Before the movie, the kids were fighting a lot, so I made them say nice things about each other on the way to the theater. I took Ben, Bethany, and Alice to Luke and Harper’s house afterwards. McKenna babysat Gray. I snuggled Anna and we watched videos on my phone. We had dinner with dad. Ben and Bethany and Alice got home from the Voehl's. They folded laundry, and Dan and I left to see The Boys in the Boat movie, which was also awesome!  Unfortunately, back at home, Ben was babysitting and Bethany and Alice had a hard time going to bed.  I snuggled Alice when we got home.

rd- Wednesday: We slept in for the last day of Christmas break. We ate together and did some Come Follow Me. Dan went to work. I took Ben to Caleb’s and got gas in the van.  I helped the girls clean up the basement. I wasted time. Desi came over. We had lunch. I finally prepped the pomegranates. I also finally got the motivation to clean my bathroom and room.  I got dressed and spent some time on the computer and napped. Brooklyn Moulton also came over. Alice went to play at Parley Cundick's.  McKenna did her own thing.  McKenna, Ben, and Dan went to do baptisms with cousins at the temple.  We made the kids dinner and then left for the Jazz game with Dan’s parents.  They won in overtime.  Anna had a hard time sleeping and woke up Alice with her crying.

th- Thursday: I subbed in music and everyone went back to school.  The music lesson for the day was about Mozart.  All the classes were pretty good. Ellie and Hazel Winegar had their first day at LPA and loved it!  We drove them home in our all-girl carpool!  Once we got home, we snacked, did homework, and I worked on a grocery order. I put dinner in the oven. Once Dan got home, I got ready to go to my first night of Tabernacle Choir School. I ate quickly and left at 5:20. I took Taggart home who had been at our place gaming with Ben. When I arrived at the Tabernacle, I picked up my binder and got measured. Our orientation consisted of hearing talks from Mack Wilberg, Ryan Murphy, and President Leavitt. They spoke about expectations and the importance of the spiritual impact the choir can have. We had snacks and walked down to the lockers and picked up our music. I got emotional as we were greeted by current choir members who were so kind and excited to see us new people! We were then instructed by the male and female managers about dress code, attendance, and other housekeeping items. The medical staff and music librarian also spoke to us. Sister Wilberg gave us a lecture on posture and stretches and exercises that we could do to be in good physical singing shape. She also spoke about the importance of hydration. We had a discussion about what makes a good choir concert and the expectations in the handbook from Wilford Woodruff about the choir. We had a music theory lesson about the importance of making things sound musical without being taught, or told what to do. By the end of the night, I felt like I had drank from a fire hose! I felt excited and happy, and I also felt very inadequate and nervous!  I came home to Dan, McKenna, and Ben, ready with popcorn and decorations (a banner!) and ready to hear about my night.

th- Friday: I subbed in music again. I lost some of my patience by the end of the day. It snowed most of the day. We brought Claire home with us after school. Alice and I napped on the couch a little. Ben played on his computer. We had a random food dinner. Brooklyn and Rachel Pugsley came over to hang out with Bethany. Ben worked on setting up his escape room for his birthday party. I worked on the girls’ “intent to enroll” at LPA and paid for their lunch money. McKenna went to Bridget’s to hang out.  Dan tried to do a puzzle with Alice, but she gave up easily. After the girls were in bed, Dan helped me with some Tab Choir Tech stuff.

th- Saturday: Dan and I did an endowment session at 9:30. We split a breakfast burrito from Betos while we waited for Ben at Film Club. We took Luke, Max, and Harper home. Dan dropped Ben and I off at home. He took Anna and Desi to basketball practice, then he picked up groceries and pizza for Ben’s party. I did some Amazon shopping for stuff I needed for choir. Bethany listened to “PollyAnna.” McKenna went sledding with friends.  Ben and Deanna Jarvis came over to hang out and play with the kids as a little break for them from caring for Jeff and Donna. We set up for Ben’s birthday party!  Guests started coming at 5. We had pizza and then did Ben’s escape room he created. They figured it out pretty quickly, but it was still fun. It led them to the “man cave” and played on the Switch for a while. Dan and I played ping pong with the girls and they showered. Ben opened presents and then we sang to Ben and ate his powdered sugar donuts. Dan and I cleaned the kitchen. Bethany listened to more of her book. Everyone left around 9. We got the kids to Bed. McKenna had a great time babysitting!

th- Sunday: Ben’s 13th Birthday!  I left at 7:30 for a choir wardrobe meeting downtown. The roads were pretty snowy still, so I was a little late. Others were also, so they were ok with it. We learned a little about each dress, things I need to buy, and we saw the locker rooms where we would change. We had our picture taken and then we went upstairs to watch Music and the Spoken Word. I saved Dan and the kids seats. Unfortunately, Dan and Alice had to sit the observation room since she’s younger than 8. But she still liked it. It was so lovely to hear the choir live and see a little how the broadcast works in the Tabernacle. We made it back to Bountiful in time to attend Swa’s ward and take the Sacrament.  We went home, I fed the three girls, and Dan and Ben did snow removal outside. We opened Ben’s presents and did a little BoM lesson. Dan and I napped.  Dan took Bethany to the Primary baptism preview, so she could speak and give some comments/memories about her own baptism. I started listening to some Tab Choir music on YouTube.  I had my family call. Dan and Ben installed his new pull-up bar. We had Dan’s parents and Adam over for Ben’s birthday dinner. We had soup and bread and salad.  We hung out in the family room and then had ice cream cake.  Dan and I got on a quick call with my fam about the Summer trip. We got kids to bed. I worked on computer stuff. Dan and Ben built Legos.
