Oct. '23- Week 4- Subbing in Alice's class, McK BD date, Trunk or Treat, Dan in St. George with work, Youth baptisms, LPA Fall Festival, SDJH Concert, Carving pumpkins, Halloween!
Oct. 22nd- Sunday: I ate with the 4 younger kids and watched a little of the Tab choir broadcast because they had a guest choir singing with them. The girls had showers and baths. I got ready and did the girls’ hair. We left and made it on time for McKenna to usher. There was a call up choir ("How Great Thou Art") and Grandpa Webster spoke about the self reliance/emotional resilience programs. Korie taught in YW and we had a little discussion about expectations and the atmosphere we want in our YW meeting. We had lunch and I had my family call. Ben and Alice did a "how to draw" together. I napped a little. Then we worked on everyone’s Halloween costumes. We had leftovers for dinner. McKenna, Ben, and I went to the stake youth testimony meeting. There was a steady flow of youth who shared their testimonies for a good 45 minutes. They were pretty short and sweet, and many were peer pressured into going up, but it was awesome to hear! There were treats after. When we got home, I worked with Ben on buying new church shoes. Dan worked with McKenna on driving stuff. We thought we lost her Social Security card, but we found it. We’ve been having things that we’ve hung with 3M Command Strips giving out and falling all over the house! Not fun surprises there.
Oct. 23rd- Monday: I substituted in Alice’s kindergarten class, and the class was pretty good! It also helped there were five kids absent, and two of them were the more difficult ones. Alice was so sweet and perfect all day! I had the kids spell their names when they played with Play-doh. I also got a cute thank you made by one of the kids. Ben and McKenna had no school and enjoyed their day off at home. Both got to hang out with friends. I took Bethany to rehearsal and then started to prep dinner. Anna had gymnastics. I had to pick McKenna up from Lucas’s house in between gymnastics and LPM, and she got ready for her rehearsal. I went to Let’s Play Music with Alice. I enlisted the help of my dad to pick Anna up from gymnastics and bring her home because Dan was out of town at a work retreat in St. George. Once we got home, I made pumpkin pancakes for dinner. Bethany stayed late after rehearsal for some track sweetening recording. I helped get the girls to bed and then picked McKenna up from Backstage. I folded my laundry and got ready for bed.
Oct. 24th- Tuesday: I dropped the girls off at school and then took McKenna to take her drivers permit test. She passed on her first try! I took her to school and then went to Legacy to sub in Ms. Loose’s class again. The kids were good again and Alice loved having me in there. Ben didn’t feel well after school, so we were a little late getting him and Anna to Shrek rehearsal. Thankfully, the medicine he took helped him feel lots better! I helped Alice with music homework, then McKenna left on her birthday date with Grandma and Grandpa! I took a little nap, then made Jack O'Lantern quesadillas for me and Bethany and Alice. I picked up Ben and Anna and we got home in time to see McKenna’s gifts! I got the girls to bed and then had down time in my room. The big kids went to bed and I talked with Dan (in St. George).
Oct. 25th- Wednesday: I took the girls, then drove McKenna and Ben for their early rehearsal. I came home and exercised and got caught up on Marco Polos. I showered and worked on costumes and decorating the van for the trunk or treat. I ate lunch and the girls got home. Bethany and Anna had piano and I did homework with Alice. I tried to nap. I took Bethany to Frozen, then picked up McKenna and Ben from their pumpkin painting after school activity. Ben went to the church early to set up the spook alley with the YM. I helped Desi and Anna get ready for the Trunk or Treat in their chipmunk costumes. We had hot dogs there. It was combined this year with the 6th ward, and it was great to see everyone! Ben’s costume was definitely a huge hit!
Oct. 26th- Thursday: We got lots of rain overnight. It was still so dark while driving the kids to school. I watched the news, ate, and then worked on freeing up storage on my phone. I also made cookies for the Norm Stout funeral. I got dressed and ate lunch. Then I worked on a grocery order and napped. Still NO email about the Tab Choir! The kids got home and I took Ben and Anna to Shrek rehearsal. I filled up Dan’s car. I started making dinner once I got home. We had spaghetti and eyeball meatballs. McKenna had piano. I fed Bethany and Alice and then took them to gymnastics. Dan got home from his work trip to St. George and Moab! We talked and caught up a little. McKenna babysat for Grey. I went to the temple and Dan stayed home with the girls.
Oct. 27th- Friday: I subbed in Ms. Jacob’s class. She had been out of town all week and you could tell the kids were a little out of control because of it. Mostly there were lots of comments and talk outs. I chilled a little once we got home. I still hadn’t heard results from the Tab Choir. Dan checked McKenna and Ben out of school early for a temple appointment. Later that evening, he took them to school for their fundraiser combined concert. I took the three girls to LPA for their Fall Festival. It was crazy as usual, but lots of fun! I took a 30min shift running the 5th grade witches hat ring toss game. My voice was pretty tired by the end of the day and I felt another cold coming on. McKenna hung out with friends after the concert.
Oct. 28th- Saturday: Dan and I did sealings from 8:30-9:30 at the temple with Elder Gary Coleman. Dan then took Ben to film club, picked up groceries, and then picked up Bethany from rehearsal. I started cleaning a little. McKenna exercised a showered. Ben went home with Luke after film club. We put groceries away and then went to get free food from Liz Rivera’s brother’s food truck. Unfortunately, Bethany wasn’t feeling good and threw up twice in the car in a bag. When we got home, she threw up and had diarrhea more. The rest of us ate lunch and Dan turned on the Utah/Oregon football game. Bethany, Alice, and I all took naps. McKenna went to Lagoon with Adrie, Liza, and Tess. I picked up Ben from Luke’s and took Alice to play with Harper. I helped Dan decorate his trunk for a work event trunk or treat. I made picture collages and then took Ben and Anna to rehearsal. I took Alice to Dan’s work thing. I ate dinner with Bethany, who was feeling better. McKenna went to a Halloween party with friends. After dinner, I picked up Anna and took Ben to Crew Winegar’s. We ate and Anna went to Desi’s, and Bethany and Alice had showers and baths. Dan worked on his talk for Sunday. Bethany and Alice went to bed and I picked up Anna and Ben.
Oct. 29th- Sunday: I went to the 2nd Ward to hear Dan speak. Grandma came too. I went home and ate something and then helped do the girls’ hair. We had our Primary Program in Sacrament meeting. We had a 5th Sunday youth discussion about education. We had lunch when we got home. Dan and McKenna left for a foster care Sunday Supper. I had my family call. I made dinner and the 4 younger kids were very into “how to draw” videos. We ate and cleaned up and then Dan and McKenna made it home. I went to Prelude rehearsal. Dan and I calendared a lot before bed.
Oct. 30th- Monday: I subbed in Ms. Thomspon’s 5th grade class. She has some pretty challenging boys. Her plans were also not great. She planned things that were super quick for long periods of time. **I also found out I made the Tabernacle Choir!!! I read the email right around 11:30 and the kids didn't have lunch until 11:50. I called Dan and cried a little with him then had lunch and taught the rest of the day. Anna was the first person I told, even before Dan, since I saw her at lunch. After telling the other kids after school, I told Dan’s mom. She stopped by to drop something off for McKenna. I took Bethany to rehearsal, and called my parents and Mickelle. I texted all the siblings. I had to get some things from Smith’s. I took Anna to gymnastics, filled up at Costco, and called my voice teacher, Jenni. She was so thrilled for me and told me lost of great pieces of advice. “Don’t feel bad if your kids eat chicken nuggets. Don’t feel like you’re bragging to everyone telling them you made it. Such cool experiences await. How cool for your kids to see you work hard for this.” Alice had music. I started making dinner (dinner in a pumkpin) and talked with McKenna about some of her friends having drama. She left for Beauty and the Beast rehearsal. I picked up Alice and Dan picked up Anna. Dinner took a long time in the oven, so we carved pumpkins while we waited. After we ate, we got the girls to bed. Dan and I got a McFlurry (to celebrate) and picked up McKenna and friends from Backstage.
Oct. 31st- Tuesday: I exercised after the kids left. While I was eating McKenna texted and said she was having an ocular migraine. I showered and then had to pick her up because she was nauseous and really needed to rest. I set out the dough for scones. I went to school and helped in Anna’s class party with the game Scategories. I came home and chilled till the LPA kids got home at 12:30. I ate lunch. I took McKenna back to school at 1:40. The girls did their piano and reading. Dan came home early from work and set up for scones. Desi came over. McKenna went to Caroline’s then Tess’s. She dressed up like a “Utah mom” this time with her friends. Alice helped me make mummy hot dogs for dinner. We ate and got into costumes! Alice changed from Elsa to Rapunzel, and Bethany changed from Rey to Pikachu. My parents and Mickelle came over at 5. We started trick or treating around 6. Ben went with cousins Truman and Henry. We set out 144 dough balls and Dan cooked them all!!
We trick or treated with Desi and the Moultons for the first half of the night. For the second half, it was just me, Alice, Brooklyn, and Sarah. Bethany stayed back to help Dan. My dad also got out his telescope for us to see Saturn and Jupiter. We got the kids to be by 10. I couldn’t hang and wait up for McKenna. She got home around 11.
