July 2022- Week 1: Mia's BD, Anna Talk in Primary, Midway 4th of July, Anna's Ankle, Colter Bay Camping! (Hiking, Hammocks, Fishing, Water play)

July 1st- Friday: Today was recovery mode from Dan’s busy birthday yesterday, though, Dan got up early to donate plasma. I slept in till just before 9. McKenna slept in till 10!  The kids worked on reading and piano while I worked on a grocery order and the camping menu. Dan worked from home. After lunch, Desi and Henry came over. I worked on the blog and napped some. Alice wanted to play Pretty Pretty Princess a lot! Dan worked on packing camping stuff. McKenna went to Hannah’s, saw the new Minions movie, then she and Hannah came here for tacos for dinner and made cookies. Dan gave Ben a haircut. I put the three little girls to bed. McKenna had friends over for an outdoor movie, but we had to move it inside because of wind!  Dan and Ben finished the first "Hobbit" movie and I worked more on the blog.

July 2nd- Saturday: I took McKenna and her friend to the Bridlewood ward breakfast. I ran 2 miles. After breakfast, we started laundry, and I ran errands to get groceries, to the post office, and the library. We went to Mia’s birthday party at Pidi’s neighborhood pool. We got home in time for McKenna to hang out with Olivia, Aliza, and Lyla, and Ben to hang out with Luke and Jett. It was fun to have Jett and Aliza Allred in town. I played with Alice some and napped, while Dan went with Anna to Costco. Dan helped Anna write a talk for primary. After friends left, my parents and Mickelle came over for dinner. We also stopped by my Aunt Shauna’s house to visit with some of my dad’s siblings. We came back to our cul de sac to watch the Eaglewood fireworks. I was sad because our internet kept quitting so my patriotic playlist didn’t work. We chatted with the Moultons and McKameys afterwards.

July 3rd- Sunday: Fast Sunday. I felt the spirit multiple times during Testimony meeting about prayer, fasting, God’s love, and Brenan Koldewyn talking about FSY! Anna gave her first talk in primary!! She told the story of Elijah and the priests of Baal and she did so great even though she was quite nervous! The kids ate lunch while we did a little Come Follow Me. We watched our videos and then napped and I blogged a little. I had my family conference call. Dan helped the kids start packing for camping and folding laundry. After dinner we watched "Relative Race." Then we got invited to go to the Moultons with the Alexanders and have treats and play games. We’re so thankful for awesome neighbors and friends! I packed when we got home.

July 4th- Monday: Dan mowed the lawn. I went running, ate with the kids, then picked up groceries. Dan also trimmed the front bushes. I started prepping some camp food. Dan packed pantry food for camping.  The kids did their reading, piano, and helped me clean here and there. We did another load of laundry. I did the three little girls’ hair matching. It was nice to have McKenna in a good mood too. We left for the Nelson gathering at Midway around 3:30. We stopped by Dan’s work storage unit to pick up a water cooler and a table for camping. We ate our dinner at Midway then visited with cousins and decorated scooters for the parade! All the kids rode in it and did great! Then we played games. Grandfather arrived and we took a big group picture and heard him say a few words. We had treats and visited some more. Just as we were getting ready to leave, Anna’s foot/ankle got caught in the surrie. She screamed and cried for a long time. We iced it and she fell asleep on the ride home. Once we got home, we put kids to bed and Dan took Anna up to Primary’s for x-rays, just to be safe since we were leaving to go camping the next day. Thankfully, there was no fracture! Just a bad sprain. She got a boot and crutches and was told no weight on it for a day or two. They got home around 12:40.

July 5th- Tuesday: We slept in till 8. I got the kids going on breakfast while Dan got the kayaks from the Kumps. Anna's ankle was pretty swollen. I worked on more food prep and the kids all helped gather more stuff to pack. We did showers and baths and finally left around 2. We ate pizza on the road and I worried about everything on our roof for most of the first hour of the drive. We checked on things 3-4 times, everything was always secure, but there was this low hum the whole time. We think it was just straps vibrating. We stopped in Soda Springs for gas and bathroom break. Anna got some more practice with her crutches. The kids watched shows, read, napped. We hit road construction through Alpine. We also made a quick stop in Jackson Hole and ran into some family that was still there too on their way up. We arrived at our campsite around 9pm, unloaded, dressed warm, and had walking tacos for dinner. We did dessert (strawberry shortcake), then got ready for bed. We were asleep by 11:20 ish and the Stewarts arrived after 12.

July 6th- Wednesday: We woke up around 8. We had cereal for breakfast then got dressed. We left to hike around 11am. We got to Jenny Lake and rode the boat shuttle across. Dan carried Anna the whole time hiking. We hiked to Hidden Falls and then Inspiration Point and road the boat back. We had a late lunch of pasta salad and then chilled. We did crafts (beading, boondoggle, and paracord). The girls played in the hammocks. Dan, Jake, and Jake took Ben, McKenna, Oliver, and Eli fishing. We had a late dinner of hot dogs and crescent rolls and zucchini. We missed a little devotional by grandma, but she gave everyone bandanas and journals. Sam and Lara did a fancy dessert with rice paper and bananas and apple pie filling fried on their Blackstone.

July 7th- Thursday: We had a lot of our food frozen from the dry ice, so our breakfast and lunch cooking was a little delayed. We left to get our kayaks inspected around 10, then went to String Lake and found out there was no room on the beaches. So we turned around and went back to Colter Bay. It was a lot of unnecessary driving, unfortunately. And it was expensive to have the boats registered! We set up shade tents and played in the water from 1-6pm. It was lots of fun with an amazing view!  We had pulled pork for dinner, then McKenna and I showered. We had a fire that night, grandma gave out glow sticks, we had s’mores, and burned old flags and old garments that were no longer usable.
